Rap-Up.com || JoJo Performs ‘Like a Virgin’ at Charity Event

JoJo explored some new territory by performing a cover of Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” at LACMA for the Harvard-Westlake Charity event in L.A. last month. Backed by a live band including songwriters Josh Alexander and Rick Nowels, the 21-year-old songbird put her soulful spin on the ’80s pop hit, which topped the charts six years before she was born.

Man, I love JoJo! That was simply amazing!!! She always delivers. Girl is one of the best vocalist I’ve ever heard! I’m still listening to The High Road and her mix tape. Can’t wait for her new project to drop! :)

Interscope continues to put all their efforts, muscle, & push behind terrible one-hit wonders, artist that won’t be around in 5 yrs, or stars of yesterday. JOJO is their Future. She has the talent & capacity to be around for a long time. They need to push her like Rihanna’s label did her at the beginning. Interscope shoved Keri Hilson down everybody’s throat and that girl is NOT a star. WAKE UP INTERSCOPE!

I fuckin LOVE JoJo…I’ve been a fan since she came out way back in 04′. She has a really beautiful voice and she sings well LIVE. I think her label’s confused as to how to market her. In my opinion, R&B is where she should be. I feel like that’s where she WANTS to be but the people behind her don’t really know how to market the whole white girl R&B thing. She SLAYED her cover of SWV’s Weak a few years ago, and she was only like 15 or 16 then. I’m rootin for her!

@A RihYoncé Stan, Yeah I agree, F these covers. I love Jojo to death but I don’t wanna hear anymore more covers. It makes her seemed washed up. I want to hear her own material whether it be old or new. It’s like she doesn’t have confidence in her own material.And live, she has songs from both of her first two albums plus tons of leaks that she has yet to sing live and I bet would be more appreciated if she sang some of them live than these damn covers.

@-, She may not like those albums but her old music was still better than her new music and doing all these covers. Marvin’s Room, Aaliyah and Jill Scott covers were dope though. I hear you but Jojo doing covers is played out. No more covers please. I feel so sad for her whenever she does covers at charity events. She just seems more and more like a has been.

@-, Yeah, you’re probably right, lol.People are losing interest in her every day. She needs to try some other ways to get buzz aside from these covers. She’s killing me with these charity events. This bish is too talented to be performing live at events for free.If she put together an R&B set at small venues people would definitely pay to see her live.

Such bullshit sainyg the original is the best. The first guy to play Hamlet wasn’t the best. Hell the first person to play Juliet was a freaking GUY doesn’t make him the best. Idina is not the best hers is just one interpretation of the character.
