Rap-Up.com || Nicki Minaj Reunites with Sophia Grace and Rosie on ‘Ellen’

Nicki Minaj returned to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday, where she reunited with Sophia Grace and Rosie, the adorable British girls who covered her song “Super Bass” on YouTube. After Ellen teased her about her revealing outfit, a blonde Nicki spoke about being a role model, buying her friends Range Rovers, and disabling her Twitter account.

Since becoming a superstar, she has a hard time going unnoticed, especially when she drives through Malibu in her pink car. “People are willing to have an accident,” said Nicki, who will headline this weekend’s Wango Tango concert in L.A. “A girl literally cut through traffic and made a U-turn just to put her car in front of my car, so she could take a picture.”

The Pink Friday rapper also shared some advice for her young fans. “Pink is your color. Pink is gonna keep you happy for the rest of your life,” she told Sophia and Rosie. “Pink is gonna give you power, energy, and the girliness that you need. You wear your crown and you’re a queen.”

Good for Nicki making money and being a “business woman”, etc. It’s true she has found her market, but is anything she’s put out lately actually good? I know it’s subjective, but to me her new music isn’t cutting it. She has some radio hits on her album, but nothing really memorable. All of her press lately has nothing to do with her music being good. Notice how her album is about to leave the top 50 on itunes. Take a look at her last.fm charts. Sure some of her pop songs have high plays, but the plays for Pink Friday stuff is very low, all things considered. She will be like Flo Rida soon….and there’s nothing wrong with that, but she could be so much more.

@Shaytan, Flops don’t debut at number one in several countries. Stop misconstruing what happened. The ONLY reason the album didn’t sell more is because it was released at the worst possible time. The best time to release an album (or any new product for that matter) is around Black Friday, Christmas, and shortly after New Years. She released it way after all that stuff had happened. Regardless of what you think, that DID impact sales. It ALWAYS impacts sales. Any person who works in retail will tell you that. The numbers were not bad by any means. She sold way more albums that you ever have. She’s sold more albums than a lot of others. Before you open your mouth, you need to look at things objectively. Get a life. Who purposely reads articles just to bash the person in them? It’s really stupid and immature.

@Outspoken, She did sell without the holiday. She did great! Debuting at number one in several different countries is an accomplishment. What I am saying is, everyone sells more during holiday season. It doesn’t matter who the artist is or what their music is like, they will ALWAYS sell less when their album is released in the latter half of spring and not in November. That goes for just about anything. I’m not saying she can’t sell albums in the spring- she did! I am saying that these numbers were dwarfed by the release date. The best measure of this album’s success is the long-term sales and it’s opening position on the chart. It debuted at number one in more than one country. That’s all you need to know.

@Outspoken, Also, compare it to other female rappers first week sales:

Lil Kim’s album The Naked Truth sold 109,000 it’s first week. La Bella Mafia sold 166,000. The Notorious K.I.M. sold 230,000.

Missy Elliot’s album Da Real World sold 131,000 it’s first week. Under Construction sold 259,000. This Is Not a Test! sold 143,600.

Roman Reloaded sold 253,000 copies. It’s definitely up there when you look at the sales numbers of past female rappers. Don’t act like the album is a flop when it is clearly doing very well.

Do you people actully think Nicki cares about record sales. The artist is the last to see money from record sales on a major label. But her album didn’t flop, her album almost gold and as soon as her tour starts and drop more single she will have anothe platinum album. She gettng more money than most of these rappers. Pepsi deal, Adidas deal, she did the super bowel before Wayne, Kanye, and Jay-Z. Sorry but Nicki is WINNING!

I think she wants to be recognized and have accolades BUT considering the fact that she was at the superbowl (for 2 seconds)had more promotion than anyone this year, had a pepsi deal, adidas there is no way that she should have those low numbers every week. Its hard as hell to sell records as a female MC… but besides that, those numbers are great!… Look at Rihanna, She has soooo many endorsments with brands like Armani & has her perfume out .. SHES GOING TO BE IN A FRECKING MOVIE… but her first week sales were under 175k & they dropped right after, but yet her songs are all over billboard just like nicki.
