New Music: Frank Ocean – ‘Sweet LIFE’

Sweet LIFE

Frank Ocean has everyone talking about his sexuality. But he turns the focus back to his music with “Sweet LIFE,” a cut off his Def Jam debut Channel Orange, due July 17. The Odd Future singer-songwriter, who will perform on Monday’s “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” sings about living a life of privilege (“You’ve had a landscaper and a housekeeper since you were born”) on the lush Pharrell production. Get a taste of the “Sweet LIFE.”

@Julian, Yes. I thought the same thing. Stevie needs to hear this. Music needs frank ocean. The ocean always runs deeeeep! I can’t wait for the album. He stirs up so much emotion when you hear his voice. Pharell on the beat. This is essential

The beginning sounds like he’s singing in a freestyle type of way, kinda thrown together but by 1:17 and forward it gets good, Dope track

@WZRD no one made a reference to his sexuality. You’re ignorant. He’s a great artist and that’s what people should know and support him for.

    Will Reply:

@Natasha, Sounds like a good idea go buy 20 of his CD’s when it drops July 17 and light them all on fire. Thats your money gone, more money in his pocket and a dumb ass bitch that thought that would be a good idea. People like you continue to hate while others continue to prosper and succeed in life. Something deep rooted inside yourself that you cant let go of that you have to put someone else down that had the courage to do something that millions of people cant do.

    Music Reply:

@kelly, he doesnt need any of your fucking coins. go fuck yourself

    [Reply]

    massiveattack5 Reply:

@kelly, your opinion is fair. and while i dont agree with it, you stated it without being ignorant and hateful so therefore i respect it.

    [Reply]

    kelly Reply:

@massiveattack5, Thanks for not being rude are nasty like the others… R&B was always has been connected with soul and God, I just find this to be quiet odd, that now rhythm and blues is going in a different direction…

    [Reply]

    bEEzy Reply:

@kelly, Her statement itself is ignorant and hateful. What does this have to do with God. At the end of the day, it’s music. It’s just stupid not to listen to someone’s music because of their sexual orientation. The man makes great music that connects to everyone regardless of sexual orientation or race or anything. YOUR LOSS.

    [Reply]

    kelly Reply:

@bEEzy, i said the origin of r&b has always been connected with GOD, social matters and etc now r&b has gone down the pipe…

    frenchconnnnection Reply:

    @Natasha,
so ONLY white people should be gay??? being gay is being a bad human being? so for you, only white people are “able” to do “something that horrible”?

kill yourself fucking racist you have nothing to do in America.

@DRB, His voice isnt as strong as stevie’s….good song but no.

    [Reply]

    DRB Reply:

@jay, his vocals are lacking for me but I try to overlook it. I’m hard to please anyway. In recent years, Amy Winehouse is the only vocalist that grabbed me.

    [Reply]

    Jay Reply:

@DRB, Yeah I am aswell. Like I think his appeal is his lyrics not necessarily his vocals. Amy Winehouse’s voice is very powerful I agree. I think Miguels got a pretty unique voice too

    [Reply]

    Nina Reply:

@DRB, Nah, I love Frank and everything, but Stevie’s voice is INCREDIBLE. Did you not hear him sing recently at Whitney’s funeral? (and he’s 62 y/o as well!) This is a great song though.

is this @natasha fool serious…just because he’s gay does not mean he’s not talented. It’s pathetic that anyone has a problem with someone being gay or bi. if you have a problem with someone else’s sexual orientation, then you must have something missing from your own life. go have several fucking seats with the ignorant lames.
