Rap-Up.com || Chris Brown’s ‘Fortune’ Claims No. 1 Spot

Fortune is shining down on Chris Brown. After his double wins at this month’s BET Awards, the R&B superstar finds himself back on top of the charts with his fifth album.

Fortune enters at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts with 134,000 copies sold in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Propelled by the singles “Turn Up the Music” and “Till I Die,” the album marks Brown’s second No. 1 debut following 2011’s Grammy-winning F.A.M.E. (270,000).

In addition to his success in the U.S., Fortune reigns on top of the charts in the U.K. and the Netherlands. Brown also scores career bests in Ireland and France at No. 4, Japan at No. 5, Canada at No. 6, Switzerland at No. 10, and Germany at No. 13.

Elsewhere on the Billboard charts, Flo Rida comes in at No. 14 with his hit-filled album Wild Ones. The project, which boasts the smash singles “Good Feeling,” “Wild Ones,” and “Whistle,” moves 31,000 units in its opening week.

and Exclusive was released about 5 years ago and still hasn’t surpassed Take Care, which was released less than a year ago…

@Cassidyboi, You do know unless the artist owns their label, that isn’t parented by another label. than they making very little profit from album sales because the label takes nearly all of the profit. then what ever profit goes to the artist is split to the Producers, Writers, Engineers, Mixers, Masterers ect. They make their money on tours. Do your research.

@Arie, Usher’s sales have been disappointing not because “lost it” after that masterpiece otherwise known as Confessions, but because he’s become open to a genre of music that is not adored by many of his supporters. Usher can spiral in a black abyss of subpar songs and sales and still have respect because of what he has already done in the industry. The same cannot be said for Christopher.

I loved the album as far as thinking it might be his best (i said might because you can only really tell after some time since release). Wow! That’s it? #teambreezy go get the album! I was so excited for Fortune…but I’m a little disappointed. Man we need another CB or Graffiti album. This album is not r&b… Just because a song is slow, doesn’t mean it’s r&b. I listen to only 5 songs on this album. I can’t wait till his next mixtape, I know it’s going to be hot.

Funny the CB haters not only want to talk bad about him, but his stans also, really? When it all boils down, the guy has a no.1 album, his haters can talk numbers all day, talk about him, and talk about his stans, regardless, it’s no.1. If anybody is mad, it’s not his stans, I think the haters are mad because his stans are not mad, why they are doing everything possible to bring him down and make his stans feel bad for liking the guy and his music, and it’s really childish! Congrats CB, regardless of the nay-sayers, congrats!

The point of the matter is that regardless of the #1 album, those sales are underwhelming for one of the more talented, popular and promoted stars of today.

Like it or not those are actually GOOD numbers in this day and age.

Americans act like they’re the only country in the world. Chris Brown is actually the biggest R&B artist in the WORLD right now. His album has better numbers than Usher WORLDWIDE.

I’m in the UK and CB has become very successful out here and Europe.
