After heating things up with Nicki Minaj on the Inferno version of her single “Girl on Fire,” Alicia Keys cools down with the Blue Light version, which is part of her three-song suite. The empowering anthem gets a makeover, with resung lyrics and a mellow beat courtesy of Jeff Bhasker and Salaam Remi. Listen to Alicia’s Blue Light special below.

@no_name, I haven’t decided which one is better yet. It’s going to take some more listening. I didn’t immediately like the inferno version at first but it grew on me, so now I’ll reserve my decision until I listen a little more. Love Ms. Alicia either way.

her vocals sounds forced and strained… and it sounds like every song she done before… i like her but this is not good comin’ from alicia.

This is good, but it sounds too much like her last 2 albums. Why doesn’t she take Kanye, No ID or Kerry Borthers to produce her songs instead of Swizzy and others?
I’m waiting a collaboration with Kanye West since 2004. You Don’t Know My Name was one of her best songs ever!

@tbib, jeff bhasker and kanye’s production are very similar and jeff bhasker produced most of element of freedom. i actually thought it was kanye at first.

@roy, I’m talking about the old kanye production, when he used to produce beats all alone.

@tbib, finally someone said what l was thing because the last two sound feel forced and her voice is strained. She just needs to keep it RnB. Look at Trey Songz, he hasn’t sold out and has a number one album.

@hate revolver, Trey has sold out when he started doing those dumb down songs like Lol :) and radio songs. Also when he started rapping as well. Him and Chris are over rated. Frank Ocean, Miguel, The-Dream, and R. Kelly are true R&B

Wow! This is so different. So unique. Never heard a song like this. I seriously love it!!! On my second listen. I love both versions! Their like two totally different songs. This one you can just lay back and vibe to and the other just gets me going! I gotta get both! Her voice on this one just hits me. I love the way she’s singing on this one. Alicia is a huge musical inspiration! I can’t wait for this new album!!! :)
And trust me people, give this one a second listen and you’ll love it! :)

@Fa, Oh yes this version is great also. I like the original version better but this is also a winner. The singing is not horrific, it is full of depth and emotion. Love it so much!
For anyone who thinks Alicia can’t sing, pull up Youtube and Alicia Keys recent North Seas Jazz Festival performance singing “New Day” and “Karma”. She has never sounded better. And please if you don’t like a certain music, just don’t listen to it. There is no need for the hate.

This song is stupid and distasteful. Distasteful because she seems to be targetting young girls. Alicia Keys should take a sit. Seems she running out of things to say. Guess she lost for words after hubby cheated on her. Or maybe she’s on fire cause her hubby is busy donking other women. Karma is a bitch indeed.

I thought I was the only one who thinks this song is ridiculous.
Every time I hear it , I get angry.
From:
Fallin, Ain’t got you, No One, NY State of Mind ….
To:
Girl on Fire , a cheap girl-power anthem. With several different versions hoping to sell to Die-Hard Alicia Keys fans who will buy ANYTHING the woman will put out.
When I first heard the title I thought it was a song about her guilt
…
n’ her burning soul.
NOW THAT would be an interesting song. A song declaring a HUGE (adulterous) mistake.
Yea I SAID IT..

…
on the flip side ,
maybe she was too busy. She does have a new family ..
Her hours spent on music has to have changed.
N’ the record company does expect “something” from her….
Maybe “Girl on Fire” was the best she could come up with …
Newho, next album should be called:
IRONY
heheheheh…
