Rap-Up.com || Alicia Keys to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVII

Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey. Christina Aguilera. And now Alicia Keys will join the illustrious list of superstars when she sings the national anthem at the Super Bowl next month.

Before the big game gets underway, the “Girl on Fire” will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” in front of millions at Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans on February 3, reports the AP. An official announcement has yet to be made by the NFL.

Her “Put It in a Love Song” collaborator Beyoncé will headline the halftime show, which will feature an appearance from her Destiny’s Child bandmates. She previously sang the national anthem at the 2004 Super Bowl in her hometown of Houston.

Alicia is gearing up for her “Set the World on Fire” tour with Miguel, which kicks off on March 7 in Seattle.

Please don’t call Whitney’s, Mariah’s, and Christina’s name when referring something AK is doing. I know they all previously did the NA @ the superbowl too… but AK is not in their league… not even in the same division or sport.

Here we go again, those same people waiting to say something negative and degrading about a very talented and beautiful Alicia Keys.???? I just don’t get it, if you don’t like her why do you keep reading about her and why make those comments? It’s not like she cares what you think or you’re going to make any kind of difference to anyone who loves her. Please go and enjoy who you do like and stop with who you don’t care for. No shade or disrespect but it always seems like Alicia’s voice is scratchy and pitchy when she sings live. Don’t think I’m being a “hater” or whatever because I know she’s a legend and everything but her voice– It’s not all that good when she sings live and the national anthem is something big to tackle. I don’t know– If she does well them slay me but…. I see a scratchy tone coming.

AK isn’t awful. The songs in A minor CD was strong.

That said, I never thought she could carry her carrier on her voice alone. IMO shes average. Fact is, she can play the Piano and Shes FINE. That sells tickets and CDs. Even though i dont buyher CDs/support her much anymore, I’m happy for her.

She’s still pretty new but I have high hopes for Elle Varner

This will be interesting. As much as I love Alicia and appreciate her music, I feel like the “Star Spangled Banner” would be a hard song for her to pull off especially because it’s a song that requires perfect pitch in your voice and sometimes she struggles with that. This can make it or break it for her.
