Lady Gaga to Perform New Single at MTV VMAs
Mother Monster is bringing her ball to Brooklyn. Lady Gaga will perform at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards next month.
MTV has announced the pop superstar as the first performer for the 30th annual show, which airs live on August 25 at 9 p.m. EST from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
She will perform her new single, which is set for release on August 19. The song is rumored to be titled “Applause” after Gaga’s makeup artist posted an image of Gaga holding a framed photo with the word “Applause” above it.
Her new album ARTPOP is due November 11.
Gaga last performed at the VMAs in 2011 as her male alter ego Jo Calderone and soaked the stage in blood while hanging from the ceiling in 2009.
Justin Timberlake and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis lead the nominations for this year’s awards with six apiece.
