New Music: Tinashe – ‘In the Meantime’

Tinashe

While her ScHoolboy Q-assisted hit “2 On” sits at No. 26 on the Hot 100, Tinashe serves up an album appetizer with “In the Meantime.” The L.A. singer creeps on the late night on the smoky and seductive joint, produced by T-Minus (“Swimming Pools,” “The Motto”).

Her debut Aquarius is due in September featuring appearances from Future and A$AP Rocky, plus production from Mike WiLL Made It, Boi-1da, Dev Hynes, and Detail.

She can also be heard on “Tinashe Checks In” off DJ Mustard’s debut album 10 Summers.

@mmk, Personally I like her style, I do agree that A$ap Rocky would be perfect for “Meantime”

Both songs are fire, especially the DJ Mustard produced track. I’m loving it, I just hope the content is more like her Black Water mixtape instead of mainly party tracks

OMG her voice & the beats give me a little Aaliyah reminder but then her voice gets a little raspy & it’s something new in a way. Love her voice!!

I think I’m done with her. She’s disappointing me and leaving me with nothing more times than not. Her random side stuff is better than the garbage she’s putting out.

she scurrin me. her mixtapes especially black water were next level. what the hell is this turn up basic music she’s attaching herself to.

the second track with mustard is cool.

    So far she sounds average!
Lyrics are weak ”let these other bitches have it” LMAO
Presentation looks low budget and has been.
She needs more real instruments in her tracks. She sounds like a mix between Aaliyah and Cassie…Just a sound, no content!
My generation is born in the wrong era!

I like “In The Meantime.” I agree though, she definitely gives me a Cassie vibe.

I like this. However, why is she being so basic? her mixtapes were a different sound, why follow the crowd?

I love Tinashe, I just wish she would make music like she did in her mixtape days. her creativity is amazing & the fact that she producers & writes her OWN songs from scratch in her home is amazing. I understand 2 on being the first single to get people hype, but her second should be something alluring & ear sexiness like her mixtaps are. & BTW if you listen to her mixtape “Black Water” you will see that she has a waaaay bigger range than Jhene & Cassie, so stop with the comparisons
