Janelle Monáe Breaks Into Dance Frenzy on ’106 & Park’

Janelle Monáe

After premiering her music video for “Q.U.E.E.N.” on “106 & Park,” Janelle Monáe brought the visuals to life on air. She kicked off her stilletos and danced barefoot in her black-and-white suit to her Erykah Badu-assisted single, making her way from the couch into the audience to dance with her bow tie-wearing fans. Even Bow Wow got in on the fun.

“I just love performing. I love being an artist. I don’t take one day for granted,” said Janelle, who has done similar performances for the First Family.

“We party like this at the White House, honestly. There are pictures of me on Valerie Jarrett’s table just acting out,” she said.

Expect more funky jams like “Q.U.E.E.N.” on Janelle’s upcoming album The Electric Lady, due this summer. “Ya’ll will be able to understand me a little more,” she said. “I just love raw energy, honest, unpredictable.”

Bow Wow Talks Growing Up on ‘Oprah: Where Are They Now?’

Bow Wow and Shai Moss

Bow Wow has grown up in the public eye. Ten years making his appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” at the age of 16, the rapper formerly known as Lil Bow Wow caught up with Oprah on her OWN show “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” He spoke about his transition from a child star to a young man, and what he’s learned along the way.

“I’m so laid-back and just chill. I feel like now I’m at that point in my life where [money] doesn’t identify who I am,” said Bow, who had a $6,000-per-month allowance as a teen.

In 2011, the 26-year-old became a father to his daughter Shai Moss. “I want to make sure that she’s able to do the things that I wasn’t able to do,” said Bow.

He also takes Oprah’s cameras into the studio and on set of his day job hosting “106 & Park.”

“I can’t even say I’m a rapper or I’m an actor,” he said. “I have to say I’m an entertainer because I do it all now.”

Fantasia brought some sunshine to “The View” on Monday morning. Following the release of her fourth album Side Effects of You last week, the 28-year-old singer sat down with the ladies and guest host Jenny McCarthy, and spoke about the “dark moment” in her life and how she’s moved on.

“I wanted away, I wanted peace,” she said of her attempted suicide. “I was taking care of everybody, holding everything down. And there were so many things that were going wrong in the career, being so young, winning ‘American Idol’ at 19, nobody really preps you. It just all goes so fast.”

But she has learned to appreciate the small things in life including her two kids. “God put me here for a reason. It’s not my time to go anywhere,” said Tasia.

The resilient singer showed her strength with a powerful performance of her testimonial “Lose to Win.”

Drake Surprises Candice Glover on ‘American Idol’

Candice Glover and Drake

It was a night of surprises on “American Idol.” In addition to none of the contestants being eliminated, Candice Glover got a big surprise from her idol Drake on Thursday’s results show. After performing his song “Find Your Love” the prior night, Drizzy left the South Carolina singer an audio message telling her how much he enjoyed her performance.

“You have an angelic voice. I almost wish you were there in the studio creating it with me. I feel like we could have brought it to life together,” he said.

While her back was still turned, Drizzy snuck up behind Candice, giving her a big hug and kiss.

“I’m so proud of you,” he told an emotional Candice.

His labelmate Nicki Minaj was behind the whole thing. “@NICKIMINAJ is an incredible person for setting that up. Love you always. Thank you!” Drake told the “Idol” judge.

‘American Idol’ Contestants Cover Drake and Rihanna

Candice and Angie

“American Idol” took on Drake and Rihanna on last night’s show. The final four ladies impressed the judges with their covers of the top 5 hits. Self-professed Drake fan Candice Glover, who met the rapper last year, performed his 2010 single “Find Your Love.” She slowed down the Kanye West-produced song, but Nicki thought it was a bit old fashioned.

Nicki told Drizzy about the performance, and hoped to get his thoughts on tonight’s results show.

Candice later dueted with Angie Miller on a rock-driven version of Rihanna’s “Stay,” receiving a standing ovation from the judges.

Who had the best performance? Watch both below.
