Angie Martinez's Hair Show and Beauty Expo
Veteran HOT 97 radio personality Angie Martinez held her first annual Hair Show and Beauty Expo on Saturday, November 24th, at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City. CoverGirl Queen Collection, Akademiks, HOT 97, Martin Cadillac, and fellow radio host and hip-hop DJ Funkmaster Flex sponsored the luxurious day of style and beauty. The event featured guest appearances by celebrity hair and makeup artists as well as celeb attendees like Missy Elliott, Nina Sky, Juelz Santana, Misa Hylton, and Lil’ Mama, some of which served as judges and commentators for the various hair competitions.

According to Angie, she created the event to show recognition to her friends who work in the beauty industry. “I have really great friends that are great make-up and hair people and for years, I always realized that there was a void for this kind of event in New York,” Angie stated. “I did a Queen Collection CoverGirl commercial and once that happened and that relationship started growing, I realized that I might actually get support on an event like this, which I did. I got a lot of support, so it just happened, it came together,” she modestly revealed.
The event was capped off by a concert, which was by far the highlight of the evening. The lineup included some of the hottest male artists in the game—Trey Songz, Fabolous, The-Dream, and surprise appearances by Collie Buddz and Cassidy. Overall, the event was a success for it’s first time around.
