The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards just got Shadier. Eminem, who is nominated for eight VMAs this year including Best Male Video and Video of the Year for “Not Afraid,” is slated to hit the stage at this year’s ceremony, making it his fourth performance since his VMA debut in 1999.

Em, who was recently crowned the year’s best-selling rap artist, joins Drake, Kanye West and B.o.B as performers during the star-studded show. His past appearances have been iconic, including his “Night of the Living Shadys” performance where he stormed into NYC’s Radio City Music Hall backed by an army of clones to the tune of his Video of the Year-winning smash “The Real Slim Shady.”

The Detroit native sparked controversy last year when he and comedian Sacha Baron Cohen pulled a prank on viewers. Cohen, dressed as his character Bruno, planted his exposed buttocks on the emcee’s face in what was believed to be a flying wire malfunction, prompting Em to storm out of the venue. The pair later explained it was all in jest.

The 27th annual event, hosted by Chelsea Handler, will feature presenters including Best New Artist nominee Nicki Minaj, Trey Songz, Ne-Yo, Emma Stone and more. The show will be broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre on Sunday, September 12 at 9 P.M.
