Mariah Carey Teases New Single 'The Art of Letting Go'

Mariah Carey is going back to her roots with her new single “The Art of Letting Go,” which is also the title of her next album. As the November 11 release date approaches, the pop diva is giving her fans a teaser of the emotional song, produced by Rodney Jerkins.

“There’s an emotion to it, as you listen to the song start to finish, that you can tell that it’s me,” Mariah told CNN. “It’s about letting go of maybe something that’s not right for you. But you just don’t know how to make that final move and let go of it. Like it’s not easy, it’s something that you have to learn how to do, and I think we’re all still learning.”

She has posted video footage from the recording process on Facebook. In the black-and-white clip, Mariah logs a 4 a.m. studio session with JD, Jerkins, and a full orchestra. The symphonic song, which has a vintage quality, plays in the background.

“The Art of Letting Go” will make its debut on Facebook on November 11 with her album to follow.

“If there’s just a person that I help get through a situation with this song, then that makes my life, and that makes me know that I can get through pretty much anything,” said Mariah, who is recovering from a painful injury.
