Pharrell Williams Performs 'Happy' at Academy Awards
On the eve of his album release, Pharrell Williams brought some sunshine to the 86th Annual Academy Awards. The Neptunes hitmaker took the stage at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood to perform his Oscar-nominated hit “Happy” off the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack.
Dressed in his famous Vivienne Westwood “Mountain” hat, black track jacket, and red adidas high-tops, he lit up the stage with the infectious number, joined by a choir of high-school students and 20 dancers.
With his proud wife Helen Lasichanh and son Rocket looking on, he made his way into the audience, dancing with Oscar nominees including Lupita Nyong’o, Meryl Streep, and Amy Adams, while Jamie Foxx and Kate Hudson got down onstage.
“Tonight was amazing. Thank you to everyone who participated in my journey to the #Oscars. Dream come true,” tweeted Pharrell.
Meanwhile, the brown hat he wore to the Grammys was purchased by restaurant chain Arby’s for a whopping $44,100 on eBay, with all proceeds going to charity.
