New Music: Empire Cast feat. Da Brat - 'Dim Your Lights'
Season 2 of “Empire” has been full of guest stars—from Alicia Keys and Chris Rock to Kelly Rowland and even Petey Pablo. Now Da Brat is joining Cookie, Lucious, and the rest of the Lyon gang on the fall finale.
The So So Def rapper plays an inmate named Jezzy, who is friends with Cookie Lyon from her past bid. Brat performs a new song called “Dim Your Lights” as part of a concert taking place at the prison where Cookie served for 17 years.
Brat scored the role after sending a DM to director Lee Daniels on Twitter and pitching herself for a cameo. The two had previously met through mutual friend Mariah Carey.
“Really anything Lee wanted me to do—if I had to play a crackhead, I would’ve done it. That’s how much I love that show. I love and respect Lee Daniels,” Brat told Billboard.
