Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, & YG Shows Canceled Following T.I. Concert Shooting

A series of New York concerts have been canceled in the wake of the Troy Ave-related shooting that took place during T.I.’s show at Irving Plaza last week.

The venue’s promoter Live Nation says it nixed the concerts due to security concerns in the aftermath of the deadly shooting that has resulted in Troy Ave being charged with attempted murder.

Among the canceled shows are Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, and Vince Staples. Meanwhile, YG’s concert at Gramercy Theatre has also been nixed. Rock groups were affected too. Guns N’ Roses tribute band Appetite for Destruction and the rock group Black Pistol Fire both had Gramercy shows called off as well.

The artists have had to make other plans, as a result. Joey Bada$$, for instance, hit Twitter to share the news with his fans.

Jim Yeager, a spokesperson for Live Nation, addressed the schedule changes on Wednesday (Jun. 1). “In light of last week’s tragic events, we are acting with an overabundance of caution and coordinating a going-forward strategy with the New York Police Department that may also include a curfew,” Yeager said. “Because these discussions with the NYPD are ongoing, we will be postponing a few of our upcoming shows at Irving Plaza and the Gramercy.”

However, the NYPD denies any involvement in the cancelations, according to Sophia Mason, a spokesperson for the department. “The organization’s decision to cancel the event was in no way influenced by the NYPD,” she said.

Troy Ave pled not guilty to attempted murder this week and is being held without bail. Authorities believe he shot himself and his bodyguard, Ronald McPhatter, who was killed that night. However, the rapper’s legal team claims that they were both shot at by an unnamed assailant and that Troy only fired back in self defense.
