Nearly four years after blending hip-hop with high fashion on “Versace,” Migos and Drake are teaming up once again.
Quavo revealed the news during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid on Tuesday (Feb. 1).
“[Drake] always be popping up and lettin’ us know he sees us,” Quavo said. “We ain’t got no relationship with him, but I know he watching and I know he respects the wave and he knows what’s going on.” After a small pause, he teased: “And we got something on the way.”
It’s unclear where the new Migos and Drake collaboration will land. However, given the fact that Culture was just released and Drizzy’s More Life is soon to come, fans believe it might arrive on the upcoming Apple Music project.
Migos and Drake go back. In 2013, the 6 God gave the trio one of their first major co-signs with a remix to “Versace,” a song that peaked at No. 99 on the Hot 100. Since then, fans have said the 6 God borrowed the Migos flow on subsequent releases. Even the ATL trio acknowledged that.
“Drizzy bit the flow,” Takeoff told Billboard in 2015. “Drizzy know he bit the flow,” added Quavo. “Drizzy got on ‘Versace,’ right? Then when I came on there I did ‘Versace / Versace / Medusa head on me like I’m Illuminati.’ My boy Drizzy Drake got them bars from me. We together though. We ain’t trippin’ on boss.”
Currently, Migos is celebrating the success of “Bad and Boujee,” their first No. 1 single on the Hot 100, and Culture, which is expected to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week.
Drake is currently overseas on his “Boy Meets World Tour,” but Migos is set to appear at a Super Bowl event in Houston hosted by Drizzy’s new club The Ballet on Feb. 2. It will be a star-studded weekend, with additional appearances by Jeezy, 21 Savage, Gucci Mane, DJ Khaled, and Lil Wayne.
