Video: Wyclef Jean - 'The Ring'

Wyclef Jean proves he’s a fighter by getting in “The Ring” in the high-powered video for his new single.

The clip takes place at a boxing gym, where other fighters are training all around him. With his hands wrapped and his headgear on, the Fugees frontman gets ready for a bout of his own.

Midway through, ‘Clef shows off his kickboxing skills, tackling an opponent to the ground, and landing a few punches. Just when it seems like he’s winning the match easily, the tables turn and ‘Clef is knocked out on the mat.

Meanwhile, the song’s lyrics help inspire him to get up. “All they want to know is will I get another ring?” he sings. “Oh, I’m gonna get another ring.” With that, he stands up and continues to duke it out, throwing a kick to end the clip.

“The Ring” is a single off Wyclef’s recently-released J’ouvert EP, which features Young Thug, Walk the Moon, T-Baby, and Allyson Casado, among others.

In between working on his summer album, Carnival Vol. III: Road to Clefication, Wyclef will be inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2016 on May 7.
