Mystikal Surrenders on Rape Charge

Mystikal has been arrested and charged with first degree rape in Shreveport, La.

TMZ reports that the New Orleans rapper turned himself in to Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Department on Monday (Aug. 21) after police put out a warrant for his arrest last week.

Law enforcement officials say that the charges stem from an alleged 2016 sexual assault of a woman at a local casino. A previous report from KSLA claimed that investigators found DNA to match the 46-year-old rapper, whose given name is Michael Tyler.

Another man, Averweone Holman, has also been apprehended and charged in connection with the same incident, according to the report. Both men have bonds set at $2 million each.

A source within Mystikal’s camp claims that the rapper denies these allegations and that he plans on pleading not guilty, as per TMZ.

This isn’t the first time that the rapper has faced similar accusations. After being charged with aggravated rape and extortion, Mystikal served six years for sexual battery and upon his release in 2010, he was registered as a sex offender.
