Watch Eminem, Cardi B, Offset, & Mary J. Blige's 'Lion King Auditions' on 'SNL'
The live-action reboot of The Lion King already boasts major star power, including Beyoncé and Donald Glover, but what if it also included Eminem, Cardi B, Offset, and Mary J. Blige? That was the premise of a hilarious “Saturday Night Live” sketch over the weekend.
“Lion King Auditions” featured Pete Davidson playing the role of Eminem, as he tried out for Simba. “This is the calm before the storm right here,” he said, before pacing around the room like Slim Shady did in his “Storm” freestyle at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
Tiffany Haddish, who made history as the first black female comic to host “SNL,” played two roles in the skit. First, she dressed up as Cardi B next to Chris Redd as Offset. The engaged power couple tried out for the roles of Timon and Pumbaa. Then, Haddish threw on her best Mary J. Blige impersonation for Pumbaa, as well.
Hip-hop love continues on “SNL.” This weekend, Chance the Rapper is set to host the iconic comedy series, while Eminem will be the musical guest. Slim Shady is expected to perform his Beyoncé-assisted single “Walk On Water” and another cut off his upcoming album, Revival.
Offset’s audition isn’t too far off. Recently, Quavo revealed that the group would like to play the hyenas in the film, despite the roles already being filled.
Directed by Jon Favreau and starring James Earl Jones, Eric André, Seth Rogen, and John Oliver, The Lion King is due summer 2019.
