Tory Lanez Drops 'Oochie Wally' Freestyle, Declares His Top 5 Status

  /  11.29.2017

Tory Lanez gets his “Oochie Wally” on. As he gears up for his sophomore album Memories Don’t Die, the Canadian rapper-singer unleashes a nearly 9-minute freestyle on Funkmaster Flex’s Hot 97 program.

Over the 2001 instrumental that the Bravehearts and Nas popularized, a Balenciaga-sporting Swavey unloads furious bars about his freestyle skills. “I ain’t in that lab writing,” he contends with icy chains and rings shining. “Everything is off-top / Word to my bald spot.”

Following his ferocious stream of consciousness rhymes over the familiar flutes, Tory took a moment to praise the New York staple. “I’m doing this shit for all the people who respect the classic New York culture,” he said. “I’m doing this shit for all the young ni**as who don’t respect this culture because I come and I respect everything.”

He went on to celebrate New York rappers like Jadakiss, Styles P, and Juelz Santana, as well as Philadelphia’s Cassidy. “I know what the fuck I came from, ni**a, and this is what the fuck I came from,” said the Toronto native. “I respect all the legendary MCs. I do this for ni**as like ‘Kiss, Juelz, Cass, Styles P, everybody.” At the end of the clip, he crowns himself “top 5.”

Before the video was unveiled, Tory took to Twitter to reiterate his belief that he is a top tier MC. “I’m really TOP 5 In this rap shit, tired of ni**as thinking it’s a game,” he tweeted.

Memories Don’t Die, the follow-up to last year’s I Told You, remains without a release date. The album has already spawned “I Sip,” “Real Thing” with Future, “Shooters,” and “Skrt Skrt.”
