  /  07.25.2019

Belly is taking legal action against Coachella.

The XO rapper has filed a lawsuit against the popular music festival, saying he was the victim of an unprovoked attack by the festival’s security in April 2018. The beatdown reportedly left him with serious and lifelong injuries.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Belly claims that approximately 25 security guards pummeled him without cause during the violent incident, which occurred while his friend and collaborator The Weeknd was performing on the main stage.

Belly, who performed his own set at the festival earlier that evening, says he had the proper credentials to access all areas of the festival grounds, including the most restricted VIP sections.

According to Belly, he was headed to a backstage VIP area, when out of nowhere, security bum rushed him and repeatedly grabbed, punched, kicked, and choked him. The brutal attack, which was captured on video, left him bruised, battered, and nearly unconscious.

He claims he suffered permanent physical and mental pain and trauma. Belly, who is suing Coachella’s organizers and the security firm it hired, is looking for a large unspecified amount in damages.
