DJ Khaled Reveals Collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion

Fresh off his Drake collaborations, DJ Khaled has another one on the way with Megan Thee Stallion.

During an interview with Beats 1 on Apple Music, the We the Best mogul shared more details about his highly-anticipated 12th studio album Khaled Khaled. While he has remained tight-lipped about featured guests, he did confirm a collaboration with the Houston hottie.

“I’ll be honest with you,” Khaled told Zane Lowe, “You know, me and Megan, we got one. Yeah, we cooked something up.”

Earlier this month, Khaled released the album’s first two singles with Drake, “Popstar” and “Greece.” He was planning to drop the tracks earlier in the year before the pandemic hit.

“I was going to come up on your head top of February. But I said, ‘Hold up. Let’s figure out what’s going on,'” he said. “Me and Drake, that’s my brother for real. I’m sure you could see that, and we had these great inspiring conversations throughout the years; and when ‘Popstar’ was created, I went to Toronto and my son was born.”

But the father of two feels that the music couldn’t have come at a better time. “What I love about Drake too is, me and him, you always want to make sure it feels right,” he added. “That’s the way I like to rock, too. I want it to feel right and stars aligned for us to come with two keys and it felt right. I even told Drake on the phone, I said, ‘Yo Drake, we got to be the light. We got to.’ And he agreed.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Khaled explained why he titled the album Khaled Khaled. “I’ve always wanted to title my album that, but I always wanted to wait to the right time in my life to title that,” he said. “And Khaled means, in Arabic, it means immortal. It means forever. And that’s what I represent forever love. And we give forever. And we the best. So I’m going to break out Khaled Khaled more through the process, through the rollout. And this was a way to come with two keys. My first and last name is the same.”

Khaled continues to field collaborators for the album. “I’m in the process of reaching out to people right now ’cause the way I work, I get the ideas and the energy and the sound and the production right and then I come and give them that Khaled presentation. I’m in album mode. It’s a process for progress.”
