Video: Sam Smith feat. John Legend - 'Lay Me Down'

  /  03.09.2015

Sam Smith and John Legend are using their voices to support a great cause. The Grammy-winning crooners have recorded a duet of Smith’s In the Lonely Hour single “Lay Me Down,” which has been designated as the official Red Nose Day single by Comic Relief.

The pair has also debuted a video, which shows a behind-the-scenes look at their recording session, which took place at Capitol Studios in L.A. earlier this year.

Smith and Legend will perform the Jimmy Napes and Steve Fitzmaurice-produced ballad together for the first and only time during BBC One’s “Comic Relief – Face the Funny” on March 13.

“‘Lay Me Down’ holds a very special place in my heart. Not only did I perform it at the Brits, I’m now going to perform it live on the Red Nose Day show with the extremely talented John Legend, which is so exciting,” said Smith.

Legend added, “Sam is such a talented artist. We’ve been looking forward to working together for a while now. I’m so glad we could collaborate on such a great song and for such a great cause.”

Proceeds from sales of the song benefit Comic Relief, which works to change the lives of poor, vulnerable, and disadvantaged people across the U.K. and Africa.
