Mariah Carey Pays Tribute to Prince in Paris

The tributes keep pouring in. Following Prince’s tragic passing on Thursday (Apr. 21), his peers are celebrating his life and legacy with remembrances and musical tributes.

During her “Sweet Sweet Fantasy” show in Paris last night, Mariah Carey paid homage to the late legend with an emotional performance of her 1995 hit “One Sweet Day.”

“It’s a very sad day,” Mariah told the crowd at AccorHotels Arena. “But we remember the life of somebody who will always be treasured…You’ll have to forgive me if it’s a little difficult to get through.”

Earlier in the day, Mariah took to Instagram to mourn Prince’s loss. “Genius, legend, inspiration, friend,” she captioned of a photo of them together. “The world will miss you. I’ll never get over it.”

She wasn’t the only superstar who paid tribute to the Purple One through music. Jennifer Hudson and the Broadway cast of “The Color Purple” joined together for a performance of “Purple Rain,” while Alicia Keys honored her “bold and brazen” mentor with “How Come You Don’t Call Me.”
