Watch Mary J. Blige Sing About Police Brutality to Hillary Clinton

  /  09.27.2016

The morning after the nation’s first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Mary J. Blige teased her upcoming interview with Clinton on her Beats 1 show, “The 411.”

In the one-on-one clip, MJB sings to the Democratic presidential candidate about police issues with a cover of Bruce Springsteen’s “American Skin (41 Shots).”

“If an officer stops you, always be polite,” she sings. “And never, ever run away / Promise mama you’ll keep your hands in sight.

“It ain’t no secret, my friend,” she adds. “You can get killed just for living in / Your American skin.”

After remixing the Springsteen track, Mary asks: “Where do we go from here?”

In another preview, she asks Clinton how she’ll do what President Barack Obama was unable to do while in office.

“The 411 with Mary J. Blige” is a callback to her legendary 1992 debut album, What’s the 411? The show is set to air Sept. 30 via Apple Music’s Beats 1, right before Mary hits the road with Maxwell on their “King and Queen of Hearts Tour,” which kicks off Nov. 5 in Baltimore and ends Dec. 14 in Chicago.
