King Kendrick gets crowned again.

Among other big wins throughout the night, Kendrick Lamar won the coveted Lyricist of the Year award at the annual BET Hip-Hop Awards, which aired from Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre.

Accepting the trophy, K-Dot stressed the importance of unity through music.

“All glory to God,” he said. “This award right here, right now, mean more than anything. With that being said, I promise you this: as long as you keep music in your heart, in your soul, no matter what type of style, flow, beat, or creativity, I guarantee you, it’s one of those things that will always bring us together in this room. We right here for a reason, because of music.”

As he continued, the Top Dawg spitter also made another promise. “As long as I’m alive,” he vowed, “I’m gon’ always be kicking that real motherfuckin’ shit. BET, I love y’all. Salute.”

The Compton rhymesayer won the trophy against stiff competition. Chance the Rapper, Drake, J. Cole, and Kanye West were also nominated for the award.

But K. Dizzle was no stranger to the podium during the show. He actually tied DJ Khaled for the night’s most wins (three), also nabbing the Best Live Performer award and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse trophy for his verse on Beyoncé’s “Freedom.”

Cornrow Kenny wasn’t just at the BET Hip-Hop Awards to receive recognition. He also presented Snoop Dogg with the I Am Hip-Hop lifetime achievement award.

“He mastered the game through tests and challenges that earned him the respect of a college professor, except his game came from the streets,” Kendrick said of Snoop. “He put [me] on game, so I would avoid the same pitfalls. … Snoop Dogg was the god and continues to be so.”
