New Music: Ambré Perkins feat. Kehlani - 'No Service in the Hills'

  /  10.20.2016

Kehlani and New Orleans songstress Ambré Perkins connect even when there’s “No Service in the Hills.”

“You know what I stand for,” they sing on the hypnotic hook. “Drop a song, we ain’t even have to plan for it.” Then, they add more with confidence: “They ain’t really trying to see us / Who could ever see us? / I swear, they just want to be us.”

For Ambré, “No Service in the Hills” is all about staying true to your crew and much more.

“The song obviously can be interpreted many different ways, but for me, when I was writing I was thinking about friendship, loyalty, and the journey in following my dreams,” Ambré told The FADER. “A lot of times we think too far ahead into the future and don’t appreciate how far we’ve gotten. So this song is about that. And family. And friends. And being down for your people no matter what happens or who has anything to say about it.”

Lani sounds like she’s loving it too. She recently posted a video of herself singing along to her verse.

“No Service” follows Perkins’ 2090 mixtape, which dropped back in April. It also comes ahead of Lani’s debut album SSS, due in 2017.
