Stream Trinidad James' Mixtape 'The Wake Up 2'

Don’t hit the snooze on Trinidad James. The “All Gold Everything” rapper kicks off 2017 with the release of his new mixtape The Wake Up 2.

The 9-track project offers shoutouts to celebrities with its track titles, while boasting guest appearances from ILoveMakonnen, Peewee Longway (“Taylor Swift”), Scotty ATL, Bankroll Fresh (“Meek N Nicki”), and Lyric Wright (“S M B A L”), among others.

With production from Bangladesh (“Conceited”), TM88 (“Taylor Swift”), Sonny Digital, and Bobby Raps (“Ooooo”), the project serves as a sequel to James’ The Wake Up EP, which dropped almost exactly one year ago, on Jan. 3.

James offers the new effort along with a special message to fans, written on cloud-filled artwork and posted on social media.

“Make your own luck,” he wrote. “Your president has changed. Doesn’t mean your character should. 2017 is not your friend. 2016 made you a savage. Anybody that doubts you is important. That means they give a damn. If your passions don’t drive you crazy then those are just hobbies. If your passion don’t make you money, you still have a lot more to achieve. Parents have a lot more to learn. The kids just wanna live. The kids just wanna create. The world won’t listen. We must wake up.”
