Jidenna Performs for NPR's 'Tiny Desk' Concert

  /  09.05.2017

On the heels of his “Long Live the Chief Tour,” Jidenna keeps rocking on with a special “Tiny Desk” performance for NPR.

Donning a black Brooklyn cap and a cane, the Classic Man and his band reworked three tracks off his critically-lauded debut album The Chief, starting with “Trampoline.”

“It’s a pleasure and honor to be here with y’all,” he said. “I didn’t know there were so many of you that worked here, but it makes sense because you truly are a beacon of light for, not just radio, but information in this information age. Long live NPR, long live ‘Tiny Desk,’ and long live the chief.”

With that, Jidenna ran through his “Long Live the Chief” single with a toy microphone in his left hand. Finally, he and his band closed out the set with “Bambi,” as he sipped some whiskey out of the bottle.

For this performance, Jidenna was joined by George Peters (percussion), Andre Brown (bass, keys), Jordan Hemby (drums), and William Gittens (guitar).
