Dua Lipa and Gallant Cover Amy Winehouse's 'Tears Dry On Their Own'

In honor of what would have been Amy Winehouse’s 34th birthday, Gallant enlists Dua Lipa for a heartfelt and soulful cover of “Tears Dry on Their Own.”

Together, the duo revamped the track, which appeared on Winehouse’s classic 2006 album Back to Black. Backed by a live band, they offered their own flavor to the Salaam Remi-produced cut.

The cover was “Episode 6” of Gallant’s ongoing “In the Room” series, which has previously featured collaborations with Andra Day, John Legend, Sufjan Stevens, and Seal.

“Dua is a fantastic artist and I was shocked to hear she wanted to do an episode of ‘In the Room’ with me,” Gallant told The FADER. “I think we created a special moment together.”

Meanwhile, Dua gushed about the opportunity. “I loved working on this song with Gallant, he’s so talented,” she said. “I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with him, he’s a true artist through and through.”

Winehouse was found dead in London on July 23, 2011. She reportedly died with a lethal amount of alcohol in her blood. She was 27.
