Justin Timberlake and John Legend to Perform at Oscars

  /  02.10.2017

Music and film will collide once again at the Academy Awards.

Original Song nominees Justin Timberlake, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Sting, and previous winner John Legend are set to take the stage at the 89th Annual Oscars.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these world-class artists to the Oscars,” said show producers Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd. “These performances will not only celebrate the five extraordinary nominated original songs, but also the integral part music plays in movies.”

JT will hit the stage to perform “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the animated film Trolls, while Miranda will join Auli’i Cravalho for “How Far I’ll Go” from the Disney film Moana. Both Timberlake and Miranda are nominated for their work on those tracks.

Legend is set to perform “Audition (The Fools Who Dream)” and “City of Stars” from La La Land, the romantic musical he produced and starred in. While the songs are up for Oscars, Legend is not nominated because he didn’t write or perform those songs for the movie. He is, however, returning to the Oscar stage where he and Common won an Academy Award for “Glory” from Selma in 2014.

Sting joins this year’s cast of performers. The pop icon will perform “The Empty Chair” from Jim: The James Foley Story, a song he also co-wrote and is nominated for.

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the 89th Academy Awards is set to air live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, Feb. 26, on ABC.
