Lil Uzi Vert Surprises Students During Hometown Visit

Lil Uzi Vert gives back. Last week, the chart-topping rapper provided memorable experiences for students in his home state of Pennsylvania and New York.

On Oct. 26, the “XO TOUR Llif3” MC surprised fans at the Thomas Murphy Clubhouse in Brooklyn, where he’s apparently been working with students on after-school activities, including homework and basketball. In appreciation, he was presented with an honorary “Flatbush Suns” basketball jersey in front of about 300 students. But the rapper also had a gift to give, so he awarded select students with tickets to Power 105’s Powerhouse concert, where he ended up performing alongside major names, including Migos, Cardi B, and French Montana.

The good deeds continued two days later, when Uzi showed up at the Role Models Youth Empowerment program in his hometown of Philadelphia. There, he met with 75 students, listening to their stories and ambitions. “It’s so refreshing to see a rapper that the students look up to take the time out of their busy schedule to promote positive thinking and creativity,” said Oddessa Blocker, Role Models Youth Empowerment Founder.

The Generation Now/Atlantic star is looking to continue his outreach and is already planning a Philly turkey drive around Thanksgiving, where he hopes to give out 500 turkeys.

Outside of his charitable efforts, Uzi is enjoying success with his debut album Luv Is Rage 2, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. This past week, Nicki Minaj dropped a remix to his single “The Way Life Goes.”
