Watch Kehlani's 'Tsunami Christmas' Concert

  /  12.11.2017

It’s beginning to look a lot like a Tsunami Christmas. Kehlani celebrated the holidays with a special show at Oakland’s Fox Theater on Sunday (Dec. 10), where she lit up the hometown stage.

Performing a series of tracks from her debut album SweetSexySavage and mixtape You Should Be Here, Lil Lani rocked out to “I Wanna Be,” “Undercover,” “You Should Be Here,” and “The Way.” While the livestreamed show featured neon lights and back up dancers, Lani put all the frills to the side for “Honey,” a low-key and mellow performance with crowd participation.

“Thank you for selling this show out like y’all do every fucking time,” she said to roaring applause. “I gotta say hi to everybody watching at home on TIDAL. Hey, y’all!”

Midway through the show, 6LACK showed up to perform hits like “PRBLMS,” earning acclaim from the woman of the hour. With 6LACK blushing on stage, Lani celebrated his skills. “I love you,” she said. “Thank you so much for doing this.”

Back to her set, Lil Lani continued with bangers like “Distraction,” “Everything Is Yours,” and “Personal,” shimmying across the stage with confidence. Finally, she brought out “mini tsunamis” for a special rendition of “CRZY,” where she tried to clean up the expletives.

Lani also served up a cover of Tamia’s “So Into You” for the Oakland crowd. “You guys said you grew up on R&B music,” she said. “It’s cool. We all got our genres. Can you help me cover a song? It’s a song I grew up listening to, which I love.”

The holiday spirit continues with additional shows in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, and San Diego from tonight (Dec. 11) through Dec. 19.
