Video: Meek Mill - 'Left Hollywood'

  /  05.08.2017

Meek Mill explains why he “Left Hollywood” in the music video for his gritty new Meekend Music banger.

Over a thumping instrumental with a sped-up soul sample, the Philly MC drops autobiographical rhymes. “I had to get out of Hollywood and back to the trenches,” explains Meek. “They said they need me.”

For Mill, the trenches are somewhere in Philadelphia. Filmed just after midnight on May 2, the clip is a night shot of the city he calls home. Mainly, the MMG star walks and raps through a busy house, where money changes hands and the kitchen is hectic with workers.

Hanging with friends and riding bikes in a Metallica T-shirt under his khaki suit, Meek reflects on life’s tragedies while Dreamchasers’ Omelly handles the pot on the stove. “We just wanted some love,” he laments. “Momma working, daddy dead, I just wanted a hug.”

In honor of his 30th birthday on Saturday (May 6), Meek dropped his three-track EP Meekend Music featuring “Left Hollywood,” plus collaborations with Young Thug (“Backboard”) and A$AP Ferg (“$lay”).

Next up, Meek will hit the road with Yo Gotti on their co-headlining “Against All Odds Tour.” The 21-city run starts July 5 in Cleveland and ends Aug. 8 in Seattle.
