Meek Mill Celebrates Eagles Super Bowl Win

Meek Mill says he’s “humbled” by the fact that the Philadelphia Eagles used his “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro)” as their Super Bowl-winning entrance song this past weekend.

The incarcerated rapper issued a statement to NBC’s John Clark, who shared the quote on Instagram, along with a video of the Eagles entering the field to “Intro.”

“Last night, I felt especially proud to be from the great city of Philadelphia,” he said. “All the heart that the Eagles showed in winning the Super Bowl has given the best fans in the world real hope and inspiration and I’m truly humbled.”

Meek, who is currently serving a 2-4 year sentence on probation violation, also addressed his legal issues. “I wish my current situation was different, and that I could be with my brothers on that team, and the other Eagles fans, in celebrating this once-in-a-lifetime experience,” he added. “But I have faith that truth and justice will win out in the end.”

Prior to the game, Philadelphia’s defensive end Derek Barnett said the song has been inspiring the team throughout the season. “It just gets us going. It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice,” he said. “Meek, you know, he’s locked up right now, so we have to hold the city down for him.”

The Eagles went on to defeat the New England Patriots 41-33. Next year, the event will be held in Atlanta, where Bruno Mars wants to curate a hip-hop celebration featuring OutKast, T.I., Gucci Mane, and Jeezy.

Incarceration hasn’t stopped collaborations. Yesterday, Meek appeared on Tee Grizzley’s anxiously-awaited “First Day Out (Remix).”
