New Music: Joey Bada$$ - 'King of the Jungle'

  /  03.10.2018

Is Brooklyn in the house? Without a doubt.

In the late hours of March 9th, the anniversary of The Notorious B.I.G.’s death, Joey Bada$$ unleashed his Biggie-inspired track “King of the Jungle.”

Over Salaam Remi’s boom-bap drums, Jozif Badmon unleashes a flurry of bars and flows, reflecting on his schooling in hip-hop university.

“I bought tracks with the late, great Christopher Wallace / I’m a hip-hop scholar, graduated with the young God honors / And the wisdom and the knowledge from all of my forefathers.”

Elsewhere, the BK MC boasts about how hip-hop has allowed him to carve out a better life for himself. “I was raised in them neighborhoods so impoverished,” he recalls. “Now I get a little taller when I stand on my wallet.”

Bada$$ is coming off his “King’s Dead” freestyle with XXXTentacion. He also recently released “Thugz Cry” and the first episode of his “47 Minutes” podcast on TIDAL.
