Lil Pump Appears to Respond to J. Cole's '1985'

  /  04.21.2018

It seems like Lil Pump has a message for J. Cole. Many people believe that the “Gucci Gang” rapper responded to Cole’s perceived diss on his new song “1985 (Intro to ‘The Fall Off’).”

Taking to social media, Pump’s video message was concise and to the point. “Wow,” he said. “So much props. You dissed a 17-year-old. Lame ass jit.”

Some believe this was a direct reply to Cole’s “1985.” It’s the closing song off Cole’s KOD, which dropped earlier in the day. But the song’s target remains unclear.

“All these ni**as poppin’ now is young,” raps Cole. “Everybody say the music that they make is dumb / I remember, I was 18 / Money, pussy, parties, I was on the same thing.” He also raps about someone’s “funky lil’ rap name” and ends it with a message: “Just remember what I told you when your shit flop / In five years you gon’ be on ‘Love & Hip Hop.'”

Cole and Pump have history. In 2016, many thought Jermaine’s “Everybody Dies” was at least in part about the “Gucci Gang” rapper. Pump retaliated to that perceived diss with a song called “Fuck J. Cole.”
