Meek Mill Performs 'Championships' Medley on 'SNL'

Live from New York, it’s Meek Mill.

Less than one year after his release from prison, the Philadelphia rapper made his “SNL” debut on last night’s James McAvoy-hosted episode. The rapper-turned-activist hit the 30 Rock stage to perform a medley of songs off his chart-topping album Championships.

For his first performance of the evening, Meek delivered his top 10 smash “Going Bad” (sans Drake) alongside two female dancers, dressed in skintight bodysuits. He then segued into “Uptown Vibes” with a cameo from Fabolous.

He returned later in the show to perform the title track “Championships,” on which he chronicles his battle with adversity and the criminal justice system.

“See where I come from, we made it through the system, we made it through poverty, we made it through gun violence, and now we at ‘SNL.’ We feel like we at the championships,” said a triumphant Meek.

But the battle is not over yet. Earlier in the week, he launched the REFORM Alliance alongside JAY-Z, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, and Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin. The organization’s mission is to “dramatically reduce the number of people who are unjustly under the control of the criminal justice system.”
