A$AP Rocky Designs Swedish Prison Uniforms

A$AP Rocky will return to Sweden next month for the first time since his Swedish assault case.

Speaking publicly at the Summit LA19 conference earlier this month, the rapper reflected on the month he spent behind bars in a Swedish prison during which he connected with some of the inmates, many of whom were fans of hip-hop.

“When I was going through my whole situation, the whole time I used to look on television and see Swedish fans showing me so much love and I want to give it back,” said Rocky, as reported by Jacqueline Schneider at Forbes.

The “Babushka Boi” is scheduled to return to Stockholm on Dec. 11 for a show at the Ericsson Globe that will include other Swedish artists. He plans to donate most of the proceeds from his performance to inmates and prison reform. Additionally, Rocky has designed new wardrobe and uniforms for the Swedish detention center he was in.

“I’m trying to do what I can with what I can, I just want to keep creating and encouraging whoever is after me to do it better,” he said.

On July 2, Rocky was taken into custody over his involvement in a Stockholm street brawl. He was released a month later following a high-profile trial that captured worldwide attention. A Swedish court found Rocky guilty of assault. He was handed a suspended sentence and ordered to pay damages to the victim despite video showing the 19-year-old man antagonizing his crew.

Rocky is now working on All Smiles, his first album since 2018’s Testing. In August, he debuted his latest single “Babushka Boi” along with its Dick Tracy-inspired video.
