Mac Miller's Brother Slams Machine Gun Kelly Film 'Good News'

Machine Gun Kelly’s new movie is stirring controversy.

The rapper, whose real name is Colson Baker, is set to star as a troubled musician in the upcoming drama Good News, directed and written by Tim Sutton (Funny Face, Dark Night).

According to Deadline, the fictional story centers around the last days of a rising but troubled musician (Baker), whose character is inspired by late rappers like Mac Miller, Lil Peep, Pop Smoke, and Juice WRLD.

However, the family of Mac Miller has not taken kindly to the film, which borrows its title from Miller’s posthumous single off his 2020 album Circles. His older brother, Miller McCormick, slammed the film for exploiting the rapper.

“F**k you. F**k your movie. At least change the title,” McCormick wrote in a post on his Instagram Story.

Production on Good News is slated to start July 8 in Los Angeles.

Machine Gun Kelly has not responded to the backlash. The 31-year-old actor played Tommy Lee in Netflix’s The Dirt, and also starred in the action movie Project Power with Jamie Foxx and Joseph Gordon-Levitt and alongside Sandra Bullock in Bird Box.

In May, Mac Miller’s mother publicly spoke out against an unauthorized biography on her son. Karen Meyers criticized Paul Cantor for publishing his book, Most Dope: The Extraordinary Life of Mac Miller, despite the family being “uncomfortable” with him authoring the biography because he did not have a relationship with Miller.
