Janet Jackson Leaving Island Def Jam?

Is Janet Jackson’s relationship with Island Def Jam over? Jackson is raising questions about the status of her relationship with her current label, according to Billboard. Discipline, her first album with the label, debuted to disappointing sales earlier this year.

“I can’t say if we’ll be working with them in the future,” Jackson said on Thursday during a conference call to promote her upcoming Rock Witchu Tour. “I don’t know what the future holds between the two of us.”

The pop star said she even agreed to scratch a tour for 2006’s 20 Y.O. at IDJ’s wishes in order to record Discipline.

Could this explain why Janet was conspicuously absent from the “Just Stand Up!” charity song orchestrated by Island Def Jam Chairman L.A. Reid?

I was wondering why Janet wasn’t part of the song…IDJ really did wrong by Janet, they could’ve helped her out of the mess that was going on, but made her drown even further.

I say screw IDJ, go independent, but keep on touring through 2009, focus on the lingerie line and reality show, and once Janet has her act together, release a new album, with new management.
