Rap-Up.com || Video: Beyoncé f/ Lady Gaga – ‘Video Phone (Extended Remix)’

The wait is over. Beyoncé is sure to gain a new legion of haters after they watch the oh-so-sexy video for “Video Phone (Extended Remix)” featuring a less done up Lady Gaga. Director Hype Williams spoon-feeds an eye candy overload that is certain to induce a sugar rush. The collaboration can be found on the November 23rd re-release of I Am… Sasha Fierce.

“She is such a beautiful person, and I gotta tell you, I just adore her,” Gaga told MTV News about working with B. “I have never laughed so hard on a video set in my life. We had the best time doing ‘Video Phone.’”

She released too many singles, its gettin kinda boring. She should just put the videos she wants on a DVD and call it a day. Wow. Just wow. Well I gotta say I was really surprised (and not in a good way) by her choice of wardrobe in this video. It’s a good video, but not a great one. It’s got great cinematography, with lots of color, but there’s no defending the fact that B dances, dresses, and acts like a complete ho in this video. It takes a really strong man to be OK with his woman putting it out there like she is, so Jay gets my respect.
And this is coming from a bonafide stan…

When I watched the intro I thought it was going to be something epic. But Beyonce just went backwards with that one, she has never made such a boring typical green screen video in her whole career. There was little to no creativity in that one, it was just Beyonce half naked shooting guns. We know she can do more than that.
And Lady Gaga did nothing for me.
I really do like the song but the vid doesn’t cut it.

From Beyonce, I expected more. I think having references(re-using ideas) is COMPLETELY fine, but please take it to another level, put a twist on it, switch up the details, put a little of your touch on it.
And another thing, she needs to visit some strip clubs or take further dance lessons. Just because she doesn’t have a booty doesn’t mean she can’t work it. Maybe next time…

I loved the effects in the video – they were amazing, and the color was very amusing. The song is good and that cant be denied. But its not GREAT.
Their voices dont mesh very well, and I think it was a mistake to have them in the same scene the whole time. I dont see the point of it. Their bodies are totally different, their voices are totally different, and their styles are totally different. It felt awkward to me.
Beyonce did her thing, she’s sexy as always
this wasnt gaga’s element. She’s capable of outdoing beyonce, but not by being a beyonce.

Who else agrees with me on this, that sweet dreams was Beyonces best video to The sacha Fierce Album. This video was so wack on a concept level. Hype Williams did the exact same theme as Kanyes Gold Digger Video, Jamie Foxx, Dream and Kanye digital girl, Hype Williams videos are just a complete disapointment this era. What ever happened to Dave Meyers? To me Dave Meyers made the absolute most creative videos ive ever seen in my life. That was the most disorganized video arrangement since Diva. .LOL What was the message besides BoreYawnsay portraying the over-sexed black girl stereotype?
LOL at the stans saying it was hot. What was so hot about it? LOL it had like 20 different themes.
And BoreYawnsay’s sexual tactics for attention are so pathetic to the point they are now comical. She is looking more and more like a clown!!!!!!!
Lady Gaga made a huge mistake on this one. They have NOTHING in common. Lady Gaga would get more respect in a classy video with Rihanna. At least we know the video would have a plot and direction.
Poor BoreYawnsay. Her music and image are suffering and she continues to tarnish the image of black women.

Ha! Not a Beyonce fan at all but i loved his video. It may be lacking in direction but clearly makes uo for it with those hilarious GaGa “gun-happy” moments. And I think the synchronised dancing (a la ‘Beautiful Liar’) were brilliant, its kinda not what you’d expect from Lady GaGa at all. It’ll be interesting to see how Beyonce is in the ‘Telephone’ video

but that makes for a very colorful video easy to watch (if you can bare all this sexual content). Those video-headed men were a cool idea, that makes the video fitting well the song.

the truth is that the first 10 secs of the video caught my attention and then it shifted after the “shawty what yo name is” part. It doesnt matter if the whole concept of the video doesnt flow…cuz its really about the whole theme of her image and previous videos….this video was a typical beyonce vid? yes, but nobody can do it like B. As for as the Ciara and Kelly comparisons go, dont do it because you cannot put a backup singer(kelly) and an amatuer(ciara) whom by the way flopped, to the Goddess of this game. Just give B her credits, she put in the work.

Song = whatever.
Video= yikes. There is an utter lack of craft present in this thing. The super-amateur transitions and mirror effects, bad color balance, and straight greenscreen shots belie that Williams is no master of Final Cut Pro.
On top of that, the video camera head guys were directly swiped from the anti-piracy spots that run before movies at movie theaters in Japan. Not only the visual look, mind you. The suits are the same. If you look at that sequence, the way that frames are chopped out to appear stuttery is the same exact treatment, as well.
It’s one thing to swipe and get away with it, but to swipe and then massacre through pure amateur work and lack of finish is another.
Plus, Mr. Williams forgot to rotoscope out the girls’ dual cameltoe action in the white swimsuit scene. Nice one. Or maybe cameltoes are sexy these days. (I mean, they kind of are. Kind of.)
I’d like to see a truly decent director like Rik Cordero or Eric Cruz take this song and the original greenscreen footage and flip it correctly.

I love this song, but I think it wasn’t necessary making a video clip of it if it’s gonna be like this.
I think the beginning is beautiful to the 1:10 but the rest ant the content of the video makes no sense, no relation to the lyrics of the songs … Hype Williams has missed his mark on this video and I think that we should see VIDEOPHONE , PHONE and not GUNS …

I was gonna leave it alone but I gotta comment. Out of everything, what I think is the most interesting is the comments about poor Jay-Z/Beyonce’s image being put out in this video. It’s ironic to the point of being laughable given that he is a hip-hop artist who has surrounded himself w/such video hoes. Nobody says anything about that, though; that’s just part of the “game”. Just sayin’; talk about a double standard. I think that its that kinda thinking that sets us back even more so than Bey in this video. The man gets the immunity as always, I guess. Ah well…=P And I am most definitely NOT a Beyonce stan–I can take her or leave her. Anyway, Lady Gaga kinda seemed superfluous on this video.
