Rap-Up.com || Kelis’ Son Won’t Believe in Santa Claus

Santa Claus won’t be coming down the chimney in Kelis’ household. The singer’s four-month-old son Knight will grow up knowing that the jolly man with the white beard and red suit is nothing more than a popular fallacy.

“I don’t think I’m gonna teach my kid about Santa,” Kelis reveals to Rap-Up.com. “I feel like it’s a completely useless tale.” Despite her strong opinion on the subject, she has no intentions of stifling her son’s whimsical thoughts. “I’m all about fairy tales and I love a great story so I want [Knight] to have a wild imagination, but the thing about Santa, I just don’t get it. I feel like I have enough fantasy going on.”

Compared to his peers, Knight may be hip to the game and dismiss the notion that his Christmas gifts come off a sleigh, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be in the holiday spirit—when he’s old enough, of course. “He’s too young to really like the presents and the tree, none of that really matters to him right now,” Kelis explains. “I think the most he’s gonna do, and it’s more for myself, he’s probably gonna start wearing antlers every day from now until Christmas. And I might paint his nose red just because it tickles me. It was a hectic year, but starting next year I’ll do more stuff, like do the Christmas card with him on it.”

Kelis, whose mother is of Puerto Rican descent, spent most of her childhood Christmases immersed in Hispanic traditions. “[We had] pernil and we always had coquito,” she says. “We celebrated Noche Buena, which is Christmas Eve, and we usually got little trinket gifts on January 6, which is Three Kings Day. Other than that, we just always had big family dinners. It was fun.”

this is why i’m not a fan. as a musician, i respect her hustle. but as a person, i’m not feelin’ what i’ve been seein’. every interview, she just comes off as a very stank person, so add in her trying to gut nas’ finances and i don’t respect her as a person.

I respect that. Everyone is entitled to raise their child the way they see fit. My sisters and I weren’t raised to believe in that shit either. We always got gifts though. It taught us to appreciate what our parents had worked hard to give us instead of thinking some jolly man squeezed his fat ass down the chimney and gave us Nintendo, child please. The fun part was we got to ruin it for all the other kids LOL. That shit was funny to me. Kelis is the queen! Stop hating and get into her!

It’s cool that she doesn’t want her child believing in Santa but I hope she also teaches her son to allow the other kids in his class to believe in him. Otherwise Kelis might have a lot of angry parents on her hands.
I assume she’s not going allow her child to buy into the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy, baby New Year, Cupid, leprchauns, … man, that child is going to be such a party pooper.

Get your facts straight and catch up on the news before you open your gutter. Kelis didn’t ban him from the birth. It was indeed the doctors that banned him. She had been in labor for HOURS, in which she was giving NATURAL child birth (no meds = painful as hell!!). He wasn’t there. Then he showed up at the hospital hours later DRUNK and the DOCTORS turned him away. You cannot welcome in a newborn intoxicated! So stop blaming her. Why do you think they keep the delivery room sterile? Get your facts straight. He started off being a bad father and I’m sure the judge that ruled against him took that into consideration. Now go and think about that. And google it if you must. It has been reported!
