Chris Brown read the book Superhero School to third graders at Sisulu-Walker Charter School of Harlem in New York City on Thursday (March 11). “I had a great time promoting the importance of literacy,” he later said.

The R&B singer, who recently rejoined Twitter, will be visiting with soldiers at Fort Hood in Texas next week. “These troops risk their lives for all of us everyday. Im going to show my appreciation!!!” he wrote.

This is a good look for Chris and something he would have done regardless of his current situation/place in life. He has always shown himself to love kids and inspiring them so this is not a stretch in my opinion and I believe one he really believes in. I think prior to his current problems, not seeing him in this light was simply due to his crazy schedule, GOD’s purpose is not always clearly seen and maybe everything that has happened to this young man is simply GODs way of showing him how much more he has to offer the world than being a GREAT entertainer. If I’m not mistaken, Chris has always done charity work. I remember him hosting a charity basketball game on his 18th birthday. How is he ‘all of a sudden’ doing charity work when he’s been doing it for years?

I heard the children and parents were so excited that the one’s who weren’t in there were knocking on the windows. Chris is still so loved! I certainly love him and admire his positive moves to improve himself and the lives of others. God Bless Chris Brown!

@LMAO and to all of the others yes Chris has been doing these types of things before he even got with Rihanna. He never wanted his chaarity or volunteering work public because he always did it from his heart not for publicity. he was apart of the Best Buddies for 2 years. The only reason people are just finding out is because everything he do from now on he’s going to be watched. Before the incident no one(the media) cared and he wasnt really followed around as much.

Actually the principal at this school sent out tons of letters to other celebrities and politicians and none of them accepted except for Chris. People fail to mention this in their articles I noticed. Afterward the principal commended him for coming to read for the kids.
He has been doing charity for years this is not a new thing people. He raised 50-60 grand in Oct-Dec from ticket sales of his small tour to give to DV and Best Buddies charities just FYI

To Lamo, I’m a Lover, and all the rest of you haters that don’t have a life, other celebs were asked, Chris was the only one that accepted. And if you are going to hate on him at least get your facts straight, Chris has been doing things like this way before the incident with Rihanna, plus he has always liked kids. I find alot of men hate on Chris, I believe its pure jealousy. There is not a man out there that can hate on him,rather judge him, you name it yall have done it, the only thing is yall get to hide behind your computers and hate on him. Alot of parents don’t read to their children, yall probably have them and don’t. Funny, he can always bring the haters out-people that don’t have a life of their own. Ok, let’s see. Chris Brown stepped on it and has not recovered. I do not foresee him recovering from his abuse of Rihanna for a very long time. He did take responsibility for the abuse in court. For that, as a man, I am proud of him. Post-incident, his popularity and sales headed straight into the toilet, and are continuing to decline. His PR attempt at this school and at Ft Hood are a mere attempt to revive his image. Too quickly, I might add.
Remember, this guy is no T.I. (who also went to jail at the height of his career, assumed responsibility for poor judgement, came out of jail a year later, and guess what……still on top. This cat is no T.I.

Please don’t be so quick to judge chris again that he can’t read, he’s capable of anything. It’s the way he presents himself during interviews that makes people draw conclusions about his literacy. He is well read but needs some guidance from professionals, like we all do.

No one can truly say rather his career will survive or not. So many people want this young man to fail so bad, it’s just ridiculous. Eventhough, Chris has always been around kids, I think him reading to third graders at this school was good, regardless of why he is doing it. None of the other celebs that was asked took time out to do so, but yet he is being bashed for doing it. Everything he does from now on, is going to be judged. People make it seem like Chris is the only person in this world that has done something wrong. We do wrong everyday, we sin everyday, but yet so many people want to judge, bash, wish harm, and hate on this young man. No one knows what’s in store for this young man, but we got so many out there want to play God over his life, and not in a good way. Chris, all I can say is, continue to keep your head up, regardless of these elf rightious people out here that don’t do anything wrong. You are doing a good thing, and continue, pay no mind to the nay-sayers, things will get better, just hold on and have faith.

@ arie, you maybe right, but this is one dude that is not going to hate or pass judgement on Chris. I agree, I haven’t always treated women with respect. I have lied, cheated, called a couple out of their names, and even pushed one, but that was only because she was all in my face pushing at my forhead with her fingernails. I may have been wrong but she was too. My brother went through something similar as Chris with his girlfriend. She was always slapping him, punching him, she was a jealous type of woman. I used to tell him all the time he needs to leave her alone. Well one day he hit her back, and both of them went to jail because a wittness seen her hit him first. Both have never been in trouble before, but Chris’s punishment was harsher than my brother’s. He got six months probation and community service. She got the same, but the judge made her go through anger management classes. He said he doesn’t condone violence on any part man or a woman. So, no I am not going to hate on him or judge him, people can change, I did. What he did was a good thing for children, I don’t understand why so much hatetred towards one young man when we have all made mistakes.

He is seeking counseling, doing community service, and trying to give back, which is not the first time, he has done something like this. but still haters seem to not want to leave him alone. I don’t see Rihanna seeking counseling, or going around talking to young women. And before you haters start, I’m pretty sure Chris will go around talking to young people about domestic violemce. The only time she opens her mouth, is when it benefits her, this whole inccident has put her on top, and she is using it in every way she can. Another thing, where was all this when Hallie Berry’s husband beat her until she was deaf in one ear? Where was all this when Sean Penn was whooping Madonna and showing up at video and movie sets acting crazy? Charlie Sheen has been in trouble three times for domestic violence, and continue to get praises. But, you want to make Chris the poster boy for domestic violence.

I think it was good of CB to promote literacy. I saw his interview on BET News Break, you are right, kids need to know in order to get the fancy cars, be in the videos, money, and all that, learning how to read and education itself is important. I don’t understand the hate, other celebs were asked and didn’t respond. CB did, and haters have something bad to say. Now, if he hadn’t have done it, you still would be hating.
