Drake’s Thank Me Later is living up to its name. The rising star’s debut album has experienced its first official delay.
The original release date was May 25, as Rap-Up.com initially reported. Universal Motown confirms that it has been pushed back three weeks until June 15 while Drake puts the finishing touches on the project.
The Canadian singer-rapper’s first headlining trek, “The Away From Home Tour,” kicks off tonight at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, and wraps in Houston on May 20.

The reason the Album is delayed is because Dr Dre is dropping Detox on May 25th or around that date…. Drake is taking a back seat to Dre because universal cant have 2 albums drop at the same time. Dre’s album will be announced tomorrow morning and the single with Jay-Z will be released on itunes tomorrow.

i dont care what anyone says…i believe that these “album pushbacks” happen because these artists release first singles that dont get where the label and the artist themselves are expecting..so they push it back some more in hopes that the first single will catch on or eventually release a second single..ppl can say thats not true all they want but if you look at the history, the stories speak for themselves. If you need a recent example, look at Usher’s latest album (and how many delays it suffered). Drake’s got talent, the man is good, but Over is a dissapointment compared to his previous body of work (and anyone who says otherwise just likes Drake too much to admit it) and is performing poorly. He knows it and so does his label.

I saw this coming, “Over” really didn’t have the impact that the label was hoping for. I see another single coming out soon.

hahaha called it soon as they introduced the date. You all know it wasn’t gonna make that date.
Not a big deal it’s nothing to cry over, and for all ya’ll drama queens this isn’t like the Detox. It’s his first album and he’s an actual performer not a producer like Dre. It will come out. I’ll even go ahead and predict now that it will get pushed back yet again. I can see this album getting pushed back twice. No more than that. My word as bond if it gets pushed back three times I’ll be shocked to my toes.
