BET Awards ’10: Red Carpet
It was prom night for Nicki Minaj, who picked up three awards, including Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best Group for Young Money, at Sunday’s BET Awards ’10 at L.A.’s Shrine Auditorium.
“I just think it’s so important right now for positive energy among women because I’m fighting for women,” hip-hop’s sweetheart said during one of her acceptance speeches. “This is not for me, this is for all of us, so thank you to all the female rappers who paved the way for me.”

I liked Nicki’s for some reason, though the necklace was a bit much. Her outfit when she performed with Dirty Money was better, though. I liked Queen Latifah’s white dress at the end.

nicki found a way to deliver a classy backhand at the haters in her acceptence speech, love it. Despite the wig I thought she looked gorgeous! And after seeing the performances on the net w/ headphones I could hear her, but I guess the sound overpowered her voice, o well. She only gains points in my book.

I loved Nicki’s ensemble. When she accepted her award with all of YM behind her, it really made her look like the first lady with that dress. Like it was the perfect way to captivate her as an artist and that speech was great!

this is the way i feel about nicki she deserved all the awards she won and Vivica fox sed she was the best dressed female there but i feel she looked beutiful i just wasnt expecting her to wear that like its not normal nicki minaj like is way way more classy but i love her and i hate bet for the mic mess up thing cuz everybody thinking she was lip singing why would she lip rap like if you listened you could hear her sorta like screaming in the mic but the backtrack was jus so overpowering her but nicki sed the ppl in the audotrium could hear her and they told her wen is re-airs they will fix it … i feel bad that her first performance on the bet awards and how she probably thought she had done wonderful and stuff knowing she was rapping into the mic and proud of herself and then looks on the computer and all she sees is nicki lip sychinng everywhere that sad but nicki is wonderful entertainer and has to have the quickest wig changes in the business lol did yall see how quick she changed that white wig after my chick bad into the pink one for all i do is win ..they should give her a award for that

No hate on Nicki but I didn’t appreciate her ‘fighting for women’ comment. Let’s be real for a second: little to nothing she does is for the benefit of womankind, save perhaps showing that women can make a place for themselves in a male-dominated arena. But that’s already been done, in a classier way. So I don’t think she’s a “hoe” or whatever else people say, but I know for certain that I PERSONALLY am not benefitted by anything she does. That’s gross hubris on her part, and on the part of most of the other females in the entertainment industry. If you’re looking there for role models anyway you’re looking in the wrong place. Nicki, just do it for you and leave it at that, cause you do some of us no favors.

People like these artists who use sex to sell sub-standard “art” and “music” are far more deserving of disgust, as they (and their stans) are the ones that make sure that the quality of music overall continues to decrease over time.
