Rap-Up.com || Lady Gaga, Eminem Lead VMA Nominees

MTV is going gaga for Lady Gaga. The reigning pop queen dominates the nominations for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards.

Gaga racks up a whopping 13 nods, including Best Pop Video, Best Female Video, and Video of the Year at the 27th annual show. She also claims bragging rights with the most nominations ever in a single VMA, as well as being the first female artist nominated for two different videos in the Video of the Year category for “Bad Romance” and “Telephone” featuring Beyoncé.

“I’m so honored for all the little monsters and self-professed freaks of the universe, to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I’m even more proud it’s an unlucky number; 13,” said Gaga. “A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: to make loud music, gay videos, and cause a damn raucous. Thank you MTV!”

Eminem follows his labelmate with eight nominations including Best Male Video and Video of the Year for “Not Afraid.” “Apparently MTV doesn’t care that I have two massive stadium shows on the other side of the country the day after the VMAs. F me, right?!?!,” joked Eminem about his co-headlining concerts with Jay-Z. “I mean, I’ll be there but don’t expect me to be nice about it.”

The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m.

I love Lady GaGa, really excited she got the recognition she truly deserves because face it, the woman is a workaholic, but in the same sense…
I thought it was kinda fucked up that Rihanna didn’t get any nominations at all, especially when it was a year she released 5 videos (Russian Roulette, Hard, Rude Boy, Rockstar 101, & Te Amo) & I understand people might say “Oh she sucks, blah blah blah” yet as a striving director myself it’s kinda sad really that such beautiful videos by Melina & Anthony Mandler won’t get the recognition they honestly deserve.

Why is beyonce even nominated for video this is a horrible list compiled of the same people. Gaga gets 13 nominations?!? What’s wrong with MTV. The Black Eyes Peas had an album with massive singles, Rihanna could have gotten a nomination for that awful Rude Boy song of hers. And here we go with Taylor Swift again. She’s getting her pity nomination to keep everyone guessing if she wins. Considering it’s her lowest charted single and the fact that video didn’t receieve airplay from country stations or MTV is actually a shock. It’s a little premature for Nicki Minaj to receive a best new artist nomination also. Where was Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Britney Spears, hell even Adam Lambert Deserved a nomination for best pop video atleast. MTV has been slipping for the past two years with VMAs. Next thing we know Russel Brand will be hosting again this year

Video phone don’t deserve not one of those awards it is one of beyonce’s worst song and video. They could have given those spots to other deserving artist such as BEP or Rihanna. I guess video phone was just another excuse to give Gaga more awards. Are they counted in her 13? Rated R might not have been one of Rihanna’s best albums but she did put out some damn good videos. Congrats to Gaga tho …I hope she wins some but i dont know if 13 was even necessary.

MTV is not about the music; it’s only about image and popularity now. There’s another artist who I KNOW has put out some excellent music AND videos but wasn’t nominated. And actually, I don’t feel bad about it because they’re too above it, anyway. Hopefully they will be nominated for a Grammy, the only music award…I was gonna say “that counts” but they do the same thing. Real music doesn’t matter anymore. I’ll be glad when (and if) we get past this garbage era.
