Ladies, are you ready to do the “Pretty Girl Rock”? Keri Hilson takes a trip through the ages in the decade-spanning video for the newest single from her sophomore album No Boys Allowed (Dec. 21). Directed by Joseph Kahn, the clip puts Miss Keri in a handful of looks including a flapper girl in a silent movie and a Motown front woman, targeting specific singers by mimicking Janet Jackson circa “Rhythm Nation” era and T-Boz from TLC’s “Creep” video. Take a stroll down memory lane with the blonde bombshell.

She did a great job. That TLC set up was flawless. The Janet set up should have hit harder with the choreography but, she still did a good job. I know people will hate on it because it’s Keri, but I personally liked it.

Many of you are young and dumb, like most Beyonce fans. There was no salute to Beyonce.

She went through eras from the 20′s to the 90′s channeling the likes of: Josephine Baker, 50′s movies star (Lena Horne or Dorothy Dandridge or Elizabeth Taylor), The Andrews Sisters, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Donna Summer and Janet Jackson.

That was not a Beyonce tribute in the video. That was Dianna Ross as a solo artist. Hence the big black hair. She also did the Supremes as a group. She did the damn thing for the TLC and Janet one!

Go back to the cesspool you were born from! The concept is pretty clear. It shows that girls through all ages are pretty and beuty can take many form, so no matter what your age, race, ect. all women should feel good about themselves for being pretty in their own way. Above that, it is also a tribute for the girls before her that made an impact on music history, but I’m too young to know who the ones before Diana are. Fall back hater!

This is such a good video for such a bad song. I seriously love Keri and she looked so good in the video. I loved how she payed homage to all that came before her. I still just can’t get into this song though. I still find it super cheesy and it just doesn’t fit Keri IMO. I think this song is meant for someone younger like Miley Cyrus or Tiffany Evans…even Willow Smith! But regardless, I am loving the concept. I will be buying ‘No Boys Allowed’!

quite frankly the song is annoying and it has no range and she proably have to lipsync like at black girl rock. However , pretentious this is I think she is trying to be like beyonce. No not because of (well not only because) the scene of her reenacting donna summer in which she actually look beyonce (moving like a paraody of beyonce) but she utlizing (notice not stealing) the same method beyonce. Not that its not okay for one to pay homage or to adopt older style like Rih _ adobting r n b signers 80 style for last album was cool. However has done thosa same remeditions both in video and concerts using that style and same artist hair make up etc. ALso the song lack range , lyrical ingenuitity (that keri normally displays); but moreover the melody and chorous sounds a mix of 8783 or what that bey album was . ( Also breaking points – sound very much destiny childfree in the same context hook /chorus and melody).

ok first of all… i love this video, im young and i knew everything she was paying homage to. The song is catchy, has a good beat, and is about how women of the past displayed their confidence in being beautiful, and how now its our turn.

Maybe I live in a cave.. i had no idea people hated Keri Hilson! She’s not awful or terrible at all. Shes gorgeous, has a great voice and writes very catchy songs. Comparing her to Beyonce is just not right, they are two totally different artists who both happen to sing r&b, so something is bound to sound similar here and there. Keep in mind Keri was in the music business long before she went solo, and she’s written for a lot of people. Whether you like it or not, she has the credentials. I bet there is a song you love sung by an artist that she helped compose and you don’t even know it. I love beyonce, and i love keri, but my love for each of them is different. WHY DOES THE WORLD FEEL THE NEED TO COMPARE ALL THE TIME.

Why pole tripping when they say it’s Beyonce?? It’s an honest mistake!!! When I first saw the video immediate I saw Beyonce! Totally the dress the make up the hair is totally her!! But when I read some if the comments I’d get where they got Donna Summer from. Before her is Diana and the supremes. She doesn’t do her twice. Overall I love this tribute but it’s not something I will expect from Keri but at the same time I’m not a huge fan of hers but great song and vid!!!

I really like the video! I am not crazy about the song though. I’m glad she is paying homage to many women forgotten in our time such as Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Andrews sisters, Diana Ross, and Donna Summer. I grew up watching their movies and listening to their music. Music did not begin with Beyonce! I think more people should check out past artists such as Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Mahalia Jackson and others. You will be surprised what you discover:)

I like the concept but I’m still waiting for another Keri Hilson song that really comes hard in lyrical creativity, outstanding production, or (call me a hater if you want) if she gets some killer vocal lessons and really belts it out. I’ve been waiting with baited breath since ‘The Way I Are’ and ‘Turnin’ Me On’ for her to bring it. Sadly the fact that Keri Hilson is ‘so beautiful’ is more important than making good music. The video was very entertaining, whether or not she’s impersonating Donna Summers or Beyonce as Donna Summers can be argued indefinitely and the dance is cute and I’m sure will be making it’s debut in nightclubs across the country very soon.
There’s the beautiful girl with the clever video and catchy dance, Pretty Girl Rock has everything but an enjoyable melody or lyrics. Ehhh, but she looks good though, right? :/

I won’t lie. The 1st time I saw the video, I momentarily thought beyonce in the blue dress. But only for a second because the disco ball and the black hair were obviously dead give-aways. Besides that, it did not make sense that Keri would be paying homage to someone in her own era.

Love the song and the video even more.. she pays homage to the greats both in dance and in music. Josephine Baker, Dorothy Dandridge, Lena Horne, Diana Ross, Donna Summers, Janet, and TLC.. she’s apart of the new age of music so there’s no need to emulate a Beyonce, Ciara, or Rhianna here because they all come from the same era. People kill me trying to start up unnecessary drama between stars. They all are stars in there own right. Keri writes for all of them so I doubt there is any hard feelings from Bey, CiCi, or Rhi-Rhi. Nonetheless, good job Keri!

I think this video was amazing. This song isn’t conceited its about being comfortable with yourself and about self-confidence. She is a strong powerful woman and she is beautiful. And in the video she dresses like past beautiful women who were the best of their time. I love this video and song! I think its really amazing.

I work all the time and didnt know the vid was this old, but i saw it for the first time the other day, and being a straight male, i can understand the message of the song, but you still have females hatin because somebody is not on some nicki/kim type shit. The concept of the vid was pure genius and my heart almost stopped beating when i saw the TLC tribute. Im trying to figure out what is there not to like about Keri…this song is classic
