Video: Jennifer Hudson, Christina Aguilera Perform Tribute to Aretha Franklin at Grammys![]() Though Aretha Franklin couldn’t be in attendance, a quintet of talented ladies opened the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards with a fitting tribute. Jennifer Hudson, Chrstina Aguilera, Florence + the Machine’s Florence Welch, Martina McBride, and Yolanda Adams kicked off the evening with a powerful tribute to the Queen of Soul. The gals set off the performance with a group rendition of “Natural Woman,” with Christina taking first solo duties with a hearty cover of “Ain’t No Way.” Martina McBride tore the house down with “Until You Come Back to Me,” while Welch repped for the indie set with “Think.” Hudson demanded “Respect” and Adams took ‘em to church with “Spirit in the Dark,” while the girls all joined back in for the rowdy finishing number “Sisters Are Doin’ It for Themselves.” Aretha appeared in a pre-recorded segment from her home in Detroit, where she thanked the performers and wished everyone good luck during the event.

Queen Aretha just commented on the performance on her official facebook.
“I LOVED it! The ladies all sounded so wonderful and they looked fabulous! All of them were dressed to the nines! I enjoyed each and every performance, especially Yolanda Adams doing “Spirit In The Dark” and… Christina Aguilera’s rendition of “Ain’t No Way,” Loved them all! They all looked beautiful, I really liked Jennifer Hudson’s outfit, those epaulettes on her shoulder pads were too sharp! Bravo ladies!!!”

She singled out Yoland and Christina. The Queen has spoken. Yolanda and Christina were the best.

This was hot! Everyone sang beautifully!!
The only problem I had was Christina trying to show off. She even held the last note at the end of the song longer than everyone. It just proves how selfish she is and her priorities. She didn’t care about America and the Super Bowl so she went ahead and f’ed it up. But here at the Grammy’s she chooses to sing perfectly and show off her talent 110%. And some of y’all might have missed it but she went and fell on her @## at the end of the performance. She is a drunken mess. Expect to see her on ‘Celebrity Rehab’ in 10 years.

@Trini, stop talking shit out of your ass,she sang the anthem many times b4 and did it perfectly, she messed up once so what?she`s only human just like u and i.She tripped but never fell on the ground and she clearly wasn`t drunk becuz if she was drinking prior to the performance she won`t have sounded good vocally since alcohol affects the vocal chords,so b4 u start running your mouth plz get your facts str8.Bottom line all 5 of these ladies sang the hell out of the grammys showing why ppl like rihanna and gaga are overrated and over hyped, they brought back real singing and did it the old school way, bravo ladies1

@Trini sit your pressed behind down. Christina is a DIVA, get it through your beady beads head. Christina has sung the National Anthem perfectly for 20 years now, she messes up once and people get their panties in a bunch. Soul music is Christina’s element, so yes she went IN. And if you could see clearly with your trifocals you would know she slipped, but did not fall and got back up with elegance. J. Hud & Florence helped her out too. Christina is the best.
Aretha even singled Christina out by saying she especially enjoyed Christina singing “Ain’t No Way” and Yolanda’s performances, while just saying J. Hud could dress. Hahaha, the Queen of Soul knows what’s up and everyone else with talent. Don’t be mad cuz Christina is heralded as the BEST SINGER OF THIS GENERATION. Christina has Whitney, Patti, Aretha, Celine, Herbie Hancock, Tony Bennett and Andrea Bocelli praising her constantly. She has inspired a whole generation of singers on her own, sorry she wins you lose hahahahaha!!!! Imma change the lyrics of “Respect” to P-R-E-S-S-E-D for your five head stank booty self!

Christina redeemed herself from that superbowl mess, she sang beautifully! <3 Yolanda Adams blew me away too and 4 the ppl saying christina did runs, um it's an ARETHA FRANKLIN tribute, did ya'll honestly expect her not 2 belt? smh…
& ok she fell, who gives a fuck. It's not that serious, she didn't bust her head open & she even poked fun @ herself, stfu.
