Rap-Up.com || Monica to Deliver ‘New Life’ in October

Monica is giving birth to New Life this fall. The R&B singer has announced a delivery date for her 7th studio album.

The follow-up to the Grammy-nominated Still Standing, which entered at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart last year, is tentatively slated for an October 4 release. It will include production from Missy Elliott and Polow Da Don, with the first single due in as soon as two weeks.

“The label [J Records] has asked me, do I want to take an October 4 date,” Monica told fans during a Ustream session. “Over the next month I’ll decide because as of right now, we’re pressing up the new single and trying to get some clearances which are very difficult, so if anything changes it will only be because of that. We’re working on it and I’m thinking that I will keep that October 4 date.”

The mother of two, who wed Lakers player Shannon Brown last year, is in a happy place and that reflects in her new music. “You get to hear some different flavors, but it’s definitely R&B,” she shared. “I think when you’re in a happy place, you’re able to do your job a lot easier.”

Once again, she will be sharing her life experiences on the album. “I talk about a lot of different subjects, whether it’s love, heartache, happiness, family,” she added. “The music will be a lot like Still Standing in the sense that it’s real and really about things that I’ve experienced, but it’s also from a very mature place. The greatest thing that happened to me is to learn forgiveness and acceptance. In this state of mind it’s easy for me to make music about where I’ve been and where I’m going and do it in a positive manner.”

A tour is also in the works, but Monica did not disclose further details.

way to go monica i cant wait im tired of these so called r&b chicks puttin out crappy albums i hope this one is full blow R&B and not light and fluffy pop R&B!

I’m excited for this album, I still can’t get over how “The Makings of Me” was handled that was a way better album the Still Standing!

that means another Jazmine Sullivan/Missy collab! I think if Monica sticks with those two the music should be banging otherwise I think her music is rather uninteresting. She’s one of the top vocalist in the game without a doubt; just hoping the music matches the vocals

Yes!!! I heard there’s going to be some more uptempo songs, unlike her last album that was mostly ballads. Chris is also making a collab, can’t wait!

I really hope she sticks to October 4th for this album. I love Monica and I am still so happy with all the success that came her way with “Still Standing.” That pretty much put her back into the limelight as far as R&B singers are concerned. Lastly, I’m glad she isn’t taking a 4-5 year break like she usually does in between albums.

WOW…ive never been this excited for an album. Im even more excited now than i was for Still Standing. Monica usually waits 4-5 years inbetween albums so im shocked. LOL. I have a good feeling about this one, i just hope monica takes this album alllllll the way. the only disappointment i had with SS is the fact that it had soooo much potential but they cut it short way too soon. SS had atleast 2 more singles, another tour, possibly done somethings overseas but she didnt take it that far. i want NEW LIFE to take Monica, and TeamMonica to places we aint been in a long time… im talking back atop the POP charts, World Wide tours, PLATINUM records, Mag Covers, Muliple awards & nominations, etc…. Still Standing was a GREAT start, Great comeback album. it definitely let the naysayers, doubters,haters, and everyone else inbetween who may have written her off KNOW that MONICA (the miss thang from 95) still Had it!! she still slllaaayyyed!! Now this NEW LIFE album needs to PUT her on THE MAP as an R&B ICON!! NEW LIFE #TeamMonica #LEGOOO

@ME, you know what, when i first bought ‘makings of me’, i liked it. then, i put it down b/c of what others were saying about it. a couple of months ago, i pulled it off the shelf for a current listen, and i was like “this album was slepted on”… i, personally, loved ‘still standing’. it was a great album for her as a comeback. it’s ashame she didn’t receive as much recognition for the effort. i’m hoping that ms. thang brings the heat with this album.
